In 1980 Theresa DeSalvio was commissioned by filmmaker Bill Brand to paint all of the images for "Masstransiscope," a 300-foot painting consisting of 228 panels which give the illusion of an animated movie to passengers on the Q and B trains going from DeKalb Avenue Brooklyn into Manhattan. This piece received a great deal of media attention including an award from the Municipal Arts Society, NYC; as well as being documented in the New York Times, Village Voice, SoHo News, Smithsonian Magazine and on National Network News and National Public Radio. This piece has undergone numerous restorations over the years and is currently running.
